We officially step into Spring this Thursday and today we'd love to talk to you about how you can brighten your glow for the season ahead with body oils and butter.
Team Bloom LOVE body oils, but we know they aren't everyone's first choice when it comes to moisturising the body and that many of you prefer a lotion as you think that they require less massaging in order to be absorbed by the skin - which is definitely true.
But! Today we'd like to give a shout out to body oils and butters and try and persuade you to make a short-term switch to these versatile and deeply nourishing products that are packed full of concentrated botanical goodness
So why use body oils or butters right as we head into the Spring?
For most of us, coming out of the Winter will have left us with dryer skin than normal. The reason for post Winter extra dry skin are are many - central heating, lots of clothing layers, wind chapping, and the fact that we generally pay less attention to our skin during the Winter as it is 'less on show', all contribute to dryer legs, arms and torsos.
But what does this have to do with body oils and body butters?
If you have extra dry skin, then these products are incredibly nourishing and provide a concentrated source of lipids, fats and hydrating compounds that can penetrate deeply into the skin. Most lotions and creams contain a high concentration of water, which is great for hydrating the skin, but to combat dryness we need oils that can mimic the natural sebum produced by our skin to provide a lasting rather than temporary solution to the dryness
Oils and butters as a protective way to nourish the skin
These oils form a protective barrier that locks in moisture, preventing water loss and keeping the skin supple and smooth. Many body oils are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, which not only hydrate but also help repair and rejuvenate the skin, promoting a healthy glow.
The ingredients in body oils and butters are also pure - you'll find no emulsifiers or preservatives, both of which are necessarily present in a water based product. Purity = a concentration of goodness to improve skin elasticity and tone + a guarantee that the product will be gentle on the skin. Win win!
Slow Flow - oils as a ritual for self care
And our final absolute love for body oils and butters boils down to the simple fact that you DO have to slow down to the apply them. Unlike lotions which can be rushed onto the skin and quickly applied, the slower process of applying oils and butters gives us at Bloom a lovely feeling of self care when we use them. We get the chance to connect with our own skin and inhale the beautiful and therapeutic aromas of our essential oil blends - be it the Radiance blend for energising and uplifting our day, or the end of day Serenity blend to help with sleep which is the perfect way to incorporate some aromatherapy into your bedtime routine after you have finished bathing.
Take time, indulge. You deserve it xx
